Telephone cable 5 pair grease filled CW1128
"I was a little surprised to find that the white core wires were completely white.
I had expected one to have small orange stripes (to go with orange core), one to have blue, etc.
This needed a meter to sort out appropriate pairs".

All underground grease filled cable 2, 3, 5 pair etc cable including armoured cable has
colour coded wires without the corresponding stripe colour on the whites which internal cable has.
And yes it requires a good .5 of a meter to correctly identify the pairs in the cable, something to remember when ordering.
But unless you have worked with this type of cable before, you would not know this.
